ASCE UC Irvine: Spam Musubi Fundraiser, GWRS Tour, Career Fair, and More

The UCI Student Chapter hosts multiple meetings and events!

General Meeting # 2: Simpson Gumpertz & Heger (SGH) Guest Speakers

ASCE UCI hosted our 2nd general meeting of the quarter, where we were fortunate to hear from guest speakers representing Simpson Gumpertz & Heger (SGH). Our members had the unique experience of learning about SGH’s projects relating to Structures and Building Technologies. Learning about the different projects and SGH’s company culture was enlightening.

We want to give a special shoutout to Zachariah Bettner and Dong Joon Kim for taking the time to come out and talk about their work experiences at Simpson Gumpertz & Heger! We would also like to thank Simpson Gumpertz & Heger for sponsoring our general meeting with food!

Spam Musubi Fundraiser

ASCE UCI cabinet and board spent the afternoon of February 28th grilling up some tasty, fresh spam musubi for other students to buy. Not only was making the musubi a great bonding experience for the cabinet and board, but it was also a great success! Many people lined up to buy a musubi, and we sold out quickly! Funds raised support PSWS costs.

ASCE UCI Annual PSWS BBQ 2024

To begin preparing for PSWS 2024 in Hawaii this year, ASCE UCI’s Symposium co-chairs hosted the annual BBQ. Participants were able to choose their rooms and car assignments, as well as get to know each other more. With the assistance of the Internal Team, burgers, hotdogs, and various drinks and snacks were available for participants to eat. The BBQ was hosted on Friday, February 10th. Many of the participants at the BBQ were involved in many projects sponsored by ASCE UCI, such as Concrete Canoe, Timber Design, and Steel Bridge.

As the BBQ ended, it was worthwhile to see all of the collaboration between various ASCE UCI officers, project managers, and students to make PSWS a big success.
