On Tuesday, September 17th, OC YMF hosted their last general meeting for the fiscal year at PACE Engineering in Fountain Valley, California. Attendees were able to network with other local engineers in the area with 5-minute speed interview-type rotations.
The evening of speed networking designed for civil engineers of all experience levels was a success. The professional, yet informal setting brought an innovative approach to forging meaningful connections and fostering collaboration within the civil engineering community.
Each interaction was a chance to exchange insights, share experiences, and explore potential collaborations with peers from diverse backgrounds and specialties within civil engineering.
Whether a seasoned veteran or just beginning a career, participants had a unique opportunity to expand their professional network in a structured yet informal setting. Engaging in focused discussions on industry trends, innovative practices, and the challenges facing civil engineering today was insightful.
Attendees were prepared to introduce themselves, discuss their expertise, and learn from others in a supportive and energetic atmosphere. They exchanged business cards, made new LinkedIn connections, and expanded their ever-growing network.

Marionne Lapitan is a Traffic/ITS Engineer at Jacobs. She received her BS in Civil Engineering at CSU Long Beach in 2019 and MS in Civil Engineering at Cal Poly Pomona in 2023. She is currently the ASCE OC Publications Committee Editor-In-Chief and the ASCE OC YMF President-Elect.
