Ever wonder where your bins of trash go every week once they get picked up by dumpster truck?
ASCE OC Sustainability Committee and LA Section Sustainability Committee organized a tour and presentation at Frank R. Bowerman Landfill on October 20th. Frank R. Bowerman Landfill is the ninth largest in the United States, run by OC Waste and Recycle (OCWR).
Some of the topics covered in the tour:
Composting at this facility about SB1383
General operation of a landfill facility
All things sustainable that OC Landfill is doing
Recycling programs
The event was attended by 14 people, starting with a slide and video presentation by David Wong about the landfill site and then a tour of the site facilities.
Thanks to David Wong and Michael Ocasio at OCWR for organizing the tour, driving the attendees with OCWR vans, and answering questions from the attendees.
