ASCE OC President's Column: A New Chapter

We are just about to turn the proverbial page to start a new chapter for the ASCE Orange County Branch, and I am thrilled to introduce our new Executive Board!

Taking the helm as President will be Roger Chung of BKF Engineers, President-Elect will be Nestor Godinez of SLR Consulting, Treasurer will be Eric Pheifer of Biggs Cardosa, Secretary will be Jenny Robinet of PACE, and I will continue on the Board as Past President. Additionally, our new Younger Member Forum President will be Tyler Hodges of Mark Thomas, and he will be supported by an excellent group of officers.

Along with our new Executive Board come new and fresh ideas that we’re excited to roll out for the continued benefit of our members. Some of the more significant ideas include reviewing our event offerings to ensure we focus on quality over quantity. We’re actively engaging with all our Technical Institutes to better support their efforts by joining them to provide co-sponsored events with a technical flavor that appeals to the larger civil engineering audience. We’re taking cues from some of our more successful luncheons that featured panels of experts and finding ways to showcase exciting projects and upcoming opportunities through the lenses of multiple technical experts. And we’re also excited to find ways to partner with YMF on new and different events that promote relationship-building between generations.

It has been an honor to serve as President over the past 12 months, and I can honestly say this is never anything that I expected to do during my career. I have met so many amazing people in this industry, built friendships, developed professional partnerships, and grown in my immense respect for the civil engineering community. As one of the only non-engineers in the room, I want to recognize each of you for your dedication to the profession and the world around us.

I look forward to the future and can’t wait to see what the next chapter holds!

Warmly,

Jen
